Burch emerges from Premier talks with Cabinet job intact
Firebrand Cabinet Minister David Burch seemed to emerge politically unscathed after meeting Premier Alex Scott over a string of controversial statements.
"I'm still a Minister," he said yesterday. Sen. Burch is Minister of Works and Engineering and Housing.
It had been reported on Saturday that the Premier wanted to hear the Sen. Burch's "side of the headlines".
In one week Sen. Burch criticised the selection process of the Bermuda Regiment's Commanding Officer and called for Governor Sir John Vereker to be recalled.
He also attempted to audit the Auditor General's office and ordered an 11th hour relocation of the Auditor General's office. Sen. Burch confirmed a meeting with the Premier did take place.
However, he refused to say what was discussed.
Director of the Department of Communications and Information Beverle Lottimore did not return calls yesterday about the meeting between the Premier and Sen. Burch.
