Businessman plans airline
Bermuda's connection to the Caribbean could be strengthened if Austrian counsel Leopold Kuchler is successful in his bid to establish his own airline.
In the May 29 edition of the Bermuda Sun, Mr. Kuchler and his wife Cynthia Kuchler filed a legal notice to incorporate Bermuda Star Limited. It is understood Mr. Kuchler may use the airlines to tap into the Caribbean market with direct flights to and from the Island.
According to a source, Mr. Kuchler may include flights between Bermuda and Cuba. It is understood cargo may also be carried by the new airline. Mr. Kuchler is expected to serve as president and chairman of the company. A CEO may be appointed as early as this month.
When contacted by The Royal Gazette last Friday, Mr. Kuchler confirmed that he was in the process of starting an airline but declined to comment any further.
