Thirty-one individuals appeared on charges ranging from fraud to serious sexual assault in yesterday's monthly arraignments session in Supreme Court.

Amongst them were Norwegian national Vidar Lunoe who pleaded guilty to seven counts of fraudulent inducement to invest between April 19, 2001 and April 15, 2002.

Lunoe was represented by Peter Driscoll and admitted to stealing a total of $585,214.66 from numerous investors.

Mr. Justice Ward set August 14 for sentencing.

Meanwhile Owen Decosta Williams denied importing a controlled drug (heroin) and possessing it with intent to supply on April 5 of last year and was ordered to return for mention on September 3.

A 29-year-old Smith's man pleaded not guilty to a charge of serious sexual assault.

It is alleged that he raped and physically attacked a woman on North Shore Road, Devonshire on December 9, 2001. The man has been remanded in custody and will appear for mention on September 3.

Delmon Roy Talbot and Frank Ernest Matthie denied causing grievous bodily harm to Gabriel Cabral on June 17 and had their bail extended and will appear for mention on September 3.

Jermaine Stephen Jackson pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawfully wounding Edmund Wickam on April 7 of this year with intent to do grievous bodily harm. He will appear for mention on September 3.

Three Pembroke men denied causing grievous bodily harm to a prison officer outside of Club 40 in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Raymond Winslow Burgess, 21, Shaki Eugene Crockwell, 23 and Shannon O'Brien Tuzo, 28, will appear for mention on September 3.

Two New York residents appeared on charges of conspiring to import cocaine and possession with intent to supply on May 2 when they visited the Island on a cruise ship.

Both Ashley Williams Dickens, 24 and Latoya Nicole Hunt, 24, pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded in custody until September 3 when they will appear for mention.

Reuben Nakima Roberts denied being in possession of cannabis with intent to supply and handling cannabis on April 25. He will return for mention on September 3.

Keniel Alfred Ingham is having a retrial for the alleged manslaughter of Jermaine (Red) Pitcher. He was released by the Court of Appeal and is on bail. A retrial date will be set on September 3.

Jahnia Antonio Thompson and Theodore Crayson Wolffe were remanded in custody until Wolffe's psychiatric report could be completed. They will return for mention on September 3.

Two men charged with murdering 21-year-old Tekle Mallory outside the Ice Queen Restaurant last year were remanded in custody for another month.

Quincy Stanley Brangman and Everett Jahnai Bean have been in custody for a year, said defence counsel Elizabeth Christopher. Director of Public Prosecutions Khamisi Tokunbo said his department were trying to co-ordinate the overseas witnesses.

Ms Christopher said a trial date set for July 17 that was cancelled and she had hoped that they would have a date before 2003.

Mr. Justice Ward set the matter down for mention on September 3.

Maureen Rose Trott, 50 of St. David's, was remandedin custody until her trial date on August 14. She is charged with stealing $400,000 from the Bank of Butterfield.

Also appearing before Mr. Justice Ward, were Alvin Jamel Terricho Hassell, 22, Colsey Osworth Gift, 45, and Shawn Albert Smith, 26, on charges of conspiracy to commit a robbery, aggravated robbery and unlawful wounding on April 11, 2001. It is alleged that the trio robbed the Flatts Gas Station of more than $3,000.

The trio will appear for mention on September 3.

Benin national Yaloo Mitchai, 22, appeared for mention and pleaded guilty to importation of diamorphine with the assistance of an interpreter.

He was accused of bringing the heroin into Bermuda on an American Airlines flight in March.

Mitchai will be sentenced on August 23.

Dwayne Coddington, 22, of Whale Bay Road, Southampton, Elroy Quincy Bean, 24, of Beacon Hill, Sandys, and Jamel Thompson, 21, of Sunnyside Park Drive, Southampton, appeared in court to answer charges of causing the death of young tennis star Craig Wayne Bean.

The three men previously pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving two years ago. They were accused of causing 18-year-old Mr. Bean's death on Middle Road, Southampton, in October, 2000.

Mr. Justice Ward asked for social inquiry reports on all three to be prepared for when they return for mention on September 3.

Jahmel Eugene Mallory, 17, from Tommy Fox Road, St. George's, maintained his plea of not guilty for the charge of attempting to murder a CedarBridge Academy security guard.

Mallory was charged with stabbing 31-year-old Kariim Wales several times before classes had begun on March 27 on the school's premises.

Mr. Justice Ward put the case over to fix a trial date on September 3.
