Cable glitch keeps channels off air

Doh! Simpsons fans wanting their holiday fix of Homer and Bart were left fuming when a CableVision glitch stopped Fox from broadcasting on Monday.

Also affected along with channel ten were channels five, six, 14 and 15.

Bermuda CableVision General Manager Jeremy Elmas apologised for the temporary blackout which he said had been corrected by 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday. However the problem flared for a few seconds later that night.

He said: "This group of channels is transmitted from one particular satellite from which our head end had difficulty receiving a signal.

"As a consequence the channels could not be transmitted."

CableVision is urging customers with service problems to call 292-5544.

A spokeswoman said: "We have people on call who check the answer machine hourly up until 9 p.m.

"They check it once before they go to bed. Even if there is a problem at 10 or 11 o'clock at night they go out and fix it."
