Charges of murder, sex assault, drug supply dominate hearing
Defendants denied allegations ranging from drug supply to rape during a busy monthly arraignments session in front of Chief Justice Richard Ground.
Among the drug matters was that of Robert Damon Green, Sydney O'Neil Gibbons and Ronald O'Neal Beach, who are accused of two counts of possessing cocaine with intent to supply on June 1 this year.
The trio are also alleged to have possessed heroin with intent on that date, with Beach alone accused of a further count of possessing heroin with intent.
They deny the charges. Green, 28, of DeSilva Close, Pembroke, was remanded into custody, although his lawyer Llewellyn Peniston indicated that he plans to file a bail application. Meanwhile, Gibbons, 43, of Harlem Heights Road, Hamilton Parish, and Beach, 33, of Cottage Hill Road, Hamilton Parish, were bailed.
In a separate case Barry Eugene Rahman, 40, of East Shore Road, Sandy's, pleaded not guilty to conspiring to import heroin. He is alleged to have committed the offence between a date unknown and August 29 last year. He was granted bail.

An Indian national who is accused of serious sexual assault on New Year's Day while he was a crewman on a Bermuda-registered ship will go on trial in October. The 35-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was remanded into custody.
Andrina Tamara Smith, who is accused of stabbing her boyfriend Edward Dill to death at their Devonshire home in October 2006 may go on trial this October. However, Mr. Justice Ground heard that various matters need to be thrashed out between the Department of Public Prosecutions and Smith's lawyer Charles Richardson before a firm date is fixed. Smith, who denies murder, was bailed until she appears before the court for another administrative hearing next month.
A young man who has admitted killing his girlfriend through dangerous driving while on a day out from prison will be sentenced on August 14. Jay Cody Steede was riding a bike with 15-year-old Krystal Mae Babon as passenger when it crashed on Harbour Road, Warwick, on March 19, 2005. According to reports at the time, Steede, now 19, was on day release from Co-Ed where he was serving a term of corrective training. He is on bail.
A man found guilty by a jury on Tuesday of twice sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend will also be sentenced later this month. The 36-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will hear his fate on August 15.
Tyun Dean Magic Smith-Ming, 18, of Sinky Bay Road, Southampton, is accused of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and carrying a knife in Par-la-Ville Park, Hamilton, on May 18 this year ¿ a place where the penalty for doing so is increased. He denied wrongdoing, and a provisional trial date of November 11 was set.
Also accused of carrying a knife in public is Ezra Ezzard Williams, 22, of Cedar Park, Rambling Lane, Pembroke. The offence is alleged to have been committed in Reid Street, Hamilton, on April 23 this year. Williams denies the allegation, and will go on trial at Supreme Court on November 13. The Chief Justice granted him bail until that date.
