The Open Door Christian Assembly has sought in-principal planning approval for a new 192-seat multi-purpose building on Club Road near Devil's Hole.

Gladwyn Smith's application ? received on March 24 ? includes a main auditorium, a stage and dressing room, meeting room and an office.

"It could be used for plays, or visiting entertainment who come down and put on shows," planning agent Isaac Foy said on Tuesday.

Mr. Foy said its interior would be suited for watching Christian films.

"There is going to be a projection room but being affiliated with the church it would be appropriate entertainment," he said.

There will also be a meeting room for any community groups, he said, and 30 new car parking spaces.

The development zoning of the site was Residential One.
