Construction of the long anticipated Clearwater playground is due to begin this week.

Bermuda Land Development Company (BLDC) chief executive officer Patrick Jones said yesterday that the playground at Clearwater Beach was held up due to manufacturing and docks delays. Conflicts in workers? schedules also hampered the schedule.

The playground equipment will be erected by mostly local workers and representatives from the manufacturer will be onsite to ensure the equipment is installed in accordance with factory specifications, said Mr. Jones.

?The BLDC is pleased to be able to offer a better, safer, play environment for children who will be able to enjoy this improved product for many years to come,? he added.

Mr. Jones said that this effort is in keeping with the BLDC?s mandate ? to optimise public access and use of Southside for leisure, social and community activities.
