Another high-rise condo complex has been proposed for Hamilton as efforts to increase city residential stock gain steam.

Plans for a seven-storey building on Dundonald Street were submitted for final planning approval by developer Gilbert Lopes on December 17.

The 4,314 square-foot lot - which formerly housed the Bermuda War Veterans Association - has been vacant since the building was sold and demolished this year.

The new condo complex located next to the Olympic Club will hold 17 units.

According to the plans there will be seven two-bedroom units varying in size from 1,218 to 1,740 square feet and ten one-bedroom apartments from 744 to 835 square feet. S.h.y. architecture designed the building which will feature balconies and a rooftop terrace.

The designers also hope to run an art competition to create a glass mosaic for the ground floor facade of the building.

David Yuhasz of S.h.y said: "... Artists will be provided with a package of information that depicts the areas to be studied. They will be required to submit preliminary sketch designs of their ideas represented in colour noting the mosaic approach."

A design jury will then select the winning proposal.
