Today is nomination day for the position of Common Councillor of the Corporation of Hamilton.

Secretary for the Corporation of Hamilton, Kelly Miller, said that a vacancy had been created when former Councillor John Bluck won the position of Alderman at the Corporation.

?What will happen (today) is that between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. candidates must come to City Hall with their nomination forms and put their name forward,? Ms Miller said.

If only one person puts their name forward, then they will automatically become Councillor.

However, if there is more than one, then there will be an election on Thursday, October 7.

Procedures for the Corporation election are similar to a Government election, Ms Miller said, as any registered voter can vote for the candidates.

The only requirement for nomination is that they must be registered voters and that it costs $250.
