Crown rethinks charges against dead man

Prosecutors are set to withdraw charges against a Pembroke man after he died over the weekend.Yusef Monte Williams had been due to appear at arraignments in Supreme Court on Monday but defence lawyer Mark Pettingill said he had died.Director of Public Prosecutions Khamisi Tokunbo said he was waiting for official confirmation of the death before deciding how to proceed. A death notice appeared in <I>The Royal Gazette</I> yesterday.

Williams, 32, had worked in construction. He had been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and two counts of robbery.
