Government made $6,000 in 30 minutes Friday at Magistrates? Court when six tourists were each fined $1,000 for the importation of cannabis.

The six defendants came to Bermuda on April 26 on two cruise ships, the in Hamilton and the in St. George?s. Three from the , Vicki Paganes, 60, from Baltimore, Francis Suchy, 40, and Charles Yager, 34, had their cabins searched where cannabis was found.

Three from the , Wallace Bell, 44, James Demarco, 48 and Brent Dodge, 21 from Virginia all pleaded guilty.

Dodge said he had learned a ?valuable lesson? to which Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves replied: ?A lesson worth a $1,000.?

Crown counsel Anthony Blackman read out similar charges for each defendant and that their cannabis was seized and analysed.

The weight of the six drug seizures were between 0.74 to 3.84 grammes.

Also on Monday, while collecting his bags at the Bermuda International Airport, Jason I. Delory, 27, of Virginia, was approached by a canine unit that discovered a package containing 9.20 grammes of cannabis.

Delory was fined $1,000 for the importation of cannabis.
