A motorcyclist was rushed to hospital with suspected head injuries last night after a crash in Southampton.

The accident happened on Middle Road near Raynor?s Shell Service Station at about 7 p.m when the man?s bike was in collision with a car. He was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Police spokesman Robin Simmons said the motorcyclist was briefly unconscious but regained consciousness. ?Obviously as with any type of head injury, it?s treated seriously. He is at the hospital being examined.? The road was closed for about two hours.
