A horrific head-on collision between a motorbike and a car left a man in a ?serious condition? in hospital last night with Police unclear if the badly injured motorcyclist was a tourist.

An Oleander Cycles rental bike was left twisted and standing upside down after the crash that involved a silver-coloured Nissan car on North Shore Road near its junction with Winton Hill Road in the Clay Town area of Hamilton Parish. The accident happened around 8.05 p.m. as the motorbike was reportedly heading east and the Nissan was travelling west.

One eyewitness said the motorcyclist had somersaulted through the air before striking the road after the collision between bike and car. A second car, a green Opel rear-ended the Nissan. Police set up diversions at Flatts Village to send traffic away from the accident scene.

Some locals said they believed the bike rider was a tourist, while others thought he was a Bermudian ? or at least a resident. Amongst personal effects that were scattered on the roadside was a bottle of suntan lotion.
