DAB approves beach club expansion plan

Surf Side Beach Club in Warwick has been given the green light for the construction of six new luxury units.

The Development Application Board (DAB) approved the beach club's expansion at their April 24 meeting.

The six new units - three two-bedroom suites and three studios - bring the total luxury units available at the South Shore hotel to 49.

The new units will be housed in a separate three-storey building with one unit of each type on each floor.

According to the DAB report on the application: "The larger units are two bedrooms with a living room/dining room, kitchen, master bathroom, bathroom and powder room.

"The smaller units are studios with a sunroom/study, kitchenette and bathroom."

The the new units will also have balconies.

The new tourist units receive a Certificate of Approval from the Tourism Ministry in February.

While approving the 7,566 square feet of additions to the beach club, the board attached a number of conditions to their decision including the need for provisions to reduce coastal erosion, proper landscaping to maintain the visual amenity of the area and that barrier fencing be erected.
