Daniel's Head in liquidation
Daniel's Head goes into liquidation
Environment-friendly Daniel's Head holiday village has gone into liquidation - but a number of businesses both local and overseas have expressed an interest to move in. Malcolm Butterfield, from KPMG, confirmed last night that he had been appointed the official receiver by the Bank of Butterfield.
He said: "We are in the very early stages at this point. We are doing everything we can at this stage to possibly find some new owners to take the property forward in the future.
"A few people are interested. It's a combination from overseas and local."
He said the bank would play a pivotal role in any new negotiations, which, he said, were at a very delicate and sensitive stage.
And he said it was difficult to say when a sale would be completed, but he said he hoped the matter could be closed as quickly as possible for the best interests of everyone concerned.
He added: "Attempts are being made to do the best possible for all parties concerned."
The Royal Gazette has previously reported how Daniel's Head, which opened to the public just 18 months ago, was supposed to open for the summer season at about this time. However, a few weeks ago staff were told the opening would be delayed by a month.
They were then informed that it would not open this season.
The owner Excel Legacy Corporation, based in San Diego, then informed the bank, along with the Tourism Ministry and the Bermuda Land and Development Corporation that it wished to sell the site.
