Death crash victim named
The fourth road crash death victim of 2006 has been named by Bermuda Police as Michael James Douglas.
Mr. Douglas, 53, of Pembroke, died after his pedal cycle was in collision with a truck at about 4.45 p.m. on Friday.
The fatal crash happened at the junction of Palmetto Road and Bishop Spencer Road, Pembroke.
Police said it appeared Mr. Douglas was cycling north on Bishop Spencer Road and the truck was heading west on Palmetto Road when they collided.
Mr. Douglas suffered serious head injuries in the accident and was taken by paramedics to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
The truck driver, a 22-year-old St George?s man, was not injured.
It was not known on Friday whether charges would be laid against the truck driver. Police confirmed last night that inquiries were continuing into the accident.
