Fire trucks responded to a derelict house fire at Peat Lane, Pembroke early on Thursday morning.

The call came in at 6.29 a.m. and when firefighters arrived, smoke was billowing out of the lower apartment. An estimate of the cost of the damage to the building was not provided.

Another fire took place at Pembroke Dump on Wednesday night. The fire was in the agricultural waste section.

Fire crews soaked the smouldering area down with water.

A Fire service spokesman said: "We believe the fire started due to spontaneous ignition."
