D&J denies Customs violation charge

A construction boss pleaded not guilty yesterday to a charge that his company unlawfully removed goods from a container sealed by Bermuda Customs.

D&J Construction of North Street, Pembroke, is alleged to have been in charge of the container on July 28 2004 when goods were removed without the authority of the proper officer and before the seal was lawfully removed.

Company CEO and director Devin Millett denied the charge which falls under the Revenue Act 1898.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner set a trial date of October 4.
