A man who allegedly drove drunk and crashed into two vehicles was charged in Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Guest worker Ricardo Jorges Oliviera, 27, of Lynwood Drive, Hamilton Parish, was not required to enter the plea for the accident which occurred on January 27, as the case will be heard in the Supreme Court.

Oliviera, who needed a Portuguese interpreter, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm, with an alternative charge of actual bodily harm, on Simone Maranzana.

He was also charged with driving along South Road, Devonshire, while his ability to drive was impaired by alcohol or drugs, and also for driving in excess of the legal limit.

Crown counsel Anthony Blackman did not object to bail, but requested that Oliviera surrender his travel documents.

Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves released him on $10,000 bail with a surety and ordered that he surrender all travel documents by Thursday afternoon.

The defendant was represented by Leopold Mills and the matter will be mentioned on April 7.
