A drug addict who allegedly breached a three year probation order was remanded in custody for sentencing yesterday.

Ernest Heyes Johnson, 43, of no fixed abode, will re-appear for sentencing in early January.

He received three years' probation for stealing five pairs of trousers and property worth $475.75 from Connections in 2001.

He was found guilty in January, 2002.

Chief Justice Austin Ward ordered that details of the alleged breach would be heard first before he proceeds to sentencing.

He ordered that Johnson be remanded in custody for his own benefit, as he has a severe drug problem.

"It should help that you don't get any drugs," said the Chief Justice.

Appearing for the Crown was Senior Crown counsel Vinette Graham Allen and lawyer Victoria Pearman appeared on behalf of Johnson.
