Two drunk drivers who crashed their cars last month were fined $1,000 and taken off the road for 12 months in Magistrates? Court on Thursday.

Crown counsel Oonagh Vaucrosson told the court Police arrived at the scene of a collision on South Shore Road, Paget at 2.15 a.m. on June 25 to find Andre Albert Lamb being forced to sit in his car by another man.

As the man pushed on the driver?s side door, Lamb was ?laughing hysterically?, Mrs. Vaucrosson said. He was arrested when Police noted his eyes were glazed and his speech was slurred.

Lamb was found to have 174 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Coolridge D. Bell, 45, of Southampton was found by Police at 2.28 a.m. on June 5 on Middle Road in Sandys.

Bell was found near the scene of a road traffic accident in which two cars damaged.

His eyes were bloodshot and he told officers he had had ?one or two beers?, Mrs. Vaucrosson said.

Bell was found to have 123 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Bell said he was ?begging (Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner) for some form of transportation? since he was a Gombey dancer and needed to train with his troupe, which often performs at official events.

But Mr. Warner said he could show no leniency in impaired driving cases as the suspension and the fines are set by Parliament and even if he did, the Supreme Court would overturn it ? if it was appealed.

?But I did not blow that high!? Bell said, to no avail.
