A tragic road traffic accident early yesterday morning resulted in the death of Jason Binns, a 22-year-old Southampton man.

Mr. Binn?s body was discovered on Middle Road in Southampton, near the junction of Rose Hill Road, by a Police car on patrol at 3 a.m.

Police said they found the victim lying unresponsive on the side of the road a short distance from his damaged motorcycle after an apparent single-vehicle accident.

Officers immediately requested emergency medical assistance and gave first aid to Mr. Binns while the ambulance was en route.

Mr. Binns was later rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he died from head and internal injuries, Police said.

He was declared dead at 4 a.m. by the on-call emergency physician at KEMH.

Friends and relatives of the victim were too upset to speak about Mr. Binns yesterday after learning the news. was told, however, that his immediate family lives in Alabama and will be flying in from the States as soon as possible.

Police said yesterday that it appeared Mr. Binns lost control of his motorcycle as he travelled east on Middle Road.

When he lost control he crossed into the west bound lane and hit a wall.

Police have asked that anyone with information about the fatal accident contact P.c. Dennis Maybury at 299-4265 to assist their inquiry.

The accident marks Bermuda?s second road fatality of the year.

In February, guest worker Donald Leger of Canada, was killed in a road traffic accident.
