Soca fans were left feeling short-changed after the two headline acts at St. George?s Cricket Club failed to show.

Allison Hinds, who was dubbed the Queen of Soca, was due to head the Saturday night gig but the crowd were not told she could not come and instead a stand-in, who looked nothing like her, was used.

And Little Rick, who is dubbed the Party Monarch, also failed to make the concert with promoters claiming he had travel document problems.

Only the Bermudian support band and the MC were as billed on the $50 tickets.

The line-up change did not go down well among many punters.

A Bajan policeman, who has seen Allison Hinds and Square One play many times in Barbados, said: ?I don?t know who these people are, but that isn?t Allison Hinds and he isn?t Little Rick.

?These people are tired. I have seen them begin at midnight and play through ?til 6 a.m. This is not them!?

Another Bajan man said he felt cheated out of a good night. He asked: ?Where is Allison Hinds and Little Rick??

Square One band spokesman Shelley Davis was surprised to learn people in Bermuda did not know Allison Hinds wasn?t coming.

Ms Davis said Keeann Walters had to take her place.

?You know that Ally just had a baby and she was going to travel then it didn?t work out,? said Ms Davis.

?She had the baby the end of May, although she did bring out new music and perform and stuff at Crop Over (in Barbados) it didn?t work out for her to come to Bermuda.

?She was hoping to get the baby weaned, that is the whole problem.? She admitted Ms Walters didn?t look or perform the same.

?I know she is not Allison, but she is good and right now we have been using her as a replacement for Allison in whatever shows that we could, because Allison reigns, especially back home.

?She did want to go to Bermuda and also for Labour Day, but it just didn?t work out and she won?t be coming for that either.

?She has new responsibility, she just got married and she has a baby.?

However some in the crowd felt Ms Walters sung badly. One concert-goer said: ?It was bleak, I was just thinking this can?t be the main act.?

The band was supposed to have played all new music but instead played past hits such as ?Dude? and other hits from last year, angering many in the crowd.

Ms Davis said the other main star, Little Rick, who it was said would rile up the crowds, was also not able to come.

Ms Davis said the changes had been announced on the radio.

?Little Rick was supposed to come and at the last minute they didn?t give him a transit visa, to get through New York and then Elroy March King (Mikey) took his place.

Another concert-goer said he was disappointed the show ended early.

He said: ?It is not easy putting on a concert, but you know people were still waiting there because they and I thought the show was ending at two o?clock.?

The music was supposed to have gone on until 2 a.m. but it finished 50 minutes early.

Many in the crowd stood around waiting for someone to come back and play before realising it was over and leaving the site.

The promotions manager of local promoters Treble Clef, Dionne Nelson, said on Saturday that Ms Hinds had a baby but her company was contracted to have the band Square One.

?I don?t know if it is last minute or not, but I guess she decided not to travel with or without her child.

?This young lady Keeann she has been performing with the band. I don?t think the audience have been disappointed in anyway shape or form, she is wonderful and she looks like her.

?Putting on a concert is not the easiest thing, some people think it is easy, but it is not.

?You are constantly looking at schedules and when you do get a booking ? they in turn try to do other bookings and then it makes everything change, because they either cannot get back to where they need to be and it does cause some problems.

?So even if you have a contract sometimes it still creates changes.

?I don?t think anyone is disappointed and if they have they are surely dancing it off.?
