The Boundaries Commission begins its final deliberations on a new electoral map for Bermuda on Thursday.

The Commission was given new powers last summer - to make recommendations on the boundaries and number of constituencies in a revamped single seat electoral system.

Its report will be debated in the House of Assembly and a record of that debate sent on to Whitehall before an Order In Council is made to change the constituency boundaries. Britain has said that a constitutional conference is not ruled out.

Last month chairman Sir Frank Blackman, who is not yet back on the Island, said that he expected the Commission to come up with its recommendations shortly after it resumes deliberations.
