Fined for cannabis possession
A Southampton man found with cannabis at his home received a $350 fine in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Donald Victor Dillas, 47, of Lighthouse Hill, was convicted on the charges of possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis residue by Magistrate Will Francis.
Police went to his Southampton home on suspicion that he was in possession of the drug and when they arrived they found a white piece of paper containing the residue in his shirt pocket.
Officers then searched the bedroom of his home where they confiscated a cigarette contained plant-like material.
When questioned by Police Dillas told officers that it was for his personal use.
Both samples were taken to the Government analyst and found to be 0.62 grammes of cannabis and 0.63 grams of the cannabis residue.
When asked if he had anything to say in court Dillas responded: "I deeply apologise."
Mr. Francis fined Dillas $150 on the first count and an addition $200 on the second count.
