Firefighters battle stubborn brush fire

Firefighters aided by breathing apparatus battled late last night to get a bush fire in the Cedar Park area under control. Lieutenant Dana Lovell said the fire, which was reported at about 10.19 p.m., was burning in an area of about 40 feet by 40 feet.

He said the two fire teams on site had the fire under control and while the Cedar Park area was densely populated, by 10.45 p.m. no houses were in any danger.

Meanwhile Police at their Prospect Headquarters stood watching the flames last night, which they reported at one stage to be most 20 feet high.

At Press time no other details were available.
