A Canadian charter flight was diverted to Bermuda yesterday morning after a passenger needed immediate medical attention.

The Skyservice Airbus A340 was travelling from Toronto to Trinidad when the female passenger became gravely ill. At 11.10 a.m. the crew radioed Bermuda International Airport, and ten minutes later the plane landed at the airport, where it was met by emergency personnel.

The female passenger, who according to airport manager James Howes was travelling with four family members, was transferred to the ambulance. The ambulance did not head directly for the hospital, however, continuing further east first to pick up another female who had been the victim of a traffic accident on St. David's Road (see report on Page 2).

The Skyservice plane remained at the Bermuda airport for about two hours, heading on to Trinidad shortly before 1.30 p.m.
