Flights between Bermuda and the US East Coast are back to normal following one of the worst blizzards to hit America in seven years - but inconvenience is unavoidable as people scramble to reschedule their journeys.

Although flights to and from the east coast were running to plan in Bermuda yesterday, some residents, who were stranded in the US on Monday following the blizzards that brought up to four feet of snow, were having to wait several days for available seats on alternative flights.

Last night, James Howes, general manager of the Bermuda International Airport, said: "All of our flights to the United States East Coast left on time today. The passengers that are still here will be flown out over the next couple of days."

Last night, people were still trying to reschedule flights home to Bermuda - with some having to wait until Friday night to make the journey.

One resident, who has been away for the weekend with six other members of her family, said: "We have been told that we cannot get back until Friday night."
