Shaun Goater and David Bascome, two of Bermuda's best known professional footballers, have been made Members of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

The two players were named along with 11 other outstanding Bermudians, who received the Queen's Certificate and Badges of Honour.

Both Goater and Bascome earned the Royal honour for their contributions to Bermuda football, as well as their play overseas.

The pair run a football summer camp in Bermuda, and return every year to train local youth.

Goater, a Manchester City legend, adds community contributions to his long list of accomplishments, including Shaun Goater Day, the 21st of June.

Bascome and Goater's ties to Bermuda remain strong, and Bascome remains involved with the Bermuda national team.

As a professional for the last ten years with the Harrisburg Heat, earning team MVP and NPSL All-Star honours, Bascome continues to be one of the leaders in scoring and games played. Over 10,000 young soccer players have come through the Bermudians' camps, including The Bascome Pro Soccer School, LTD in the northeast United States.
