Fresh TV goes in search of new friends
The struggling community television station Fresh TV is making a concerted effort to raise funds with a membership recruitment drive for the 'Friends of Fresh' Club.
CableVision customers this month received with their bill this month a "Friends of Fresh" flyer extolling the benefits of being a member of the $50 a year club.
"The primary purpose of the Friends of Fresh Club is to raise funds to develop new community programs and enhance the overall quality of our channel," the flyer says.
"This would also present you with the opportunity, as a member to consult Fresh TV on the type of programming that you want to see and give us ideas of how to better serve your needs."
Benefits of membership also include periodic discounts at some retail stores, special events and a random prize giving every quarter.
Government is yet to announce a decision on whether to give Fresh TV a licence to broadcast this year.
Telecommunications director William Francis said last week said that ongoing talks between station owner Elmore Warren and the department were being extended and additional meetings were planned for this week.
The station's one year trial period to provide local programming through Government's cable Channel Three expired last month
