GP1 driver facing disciplinary action

One of Premier Alex Scott?s drivers is to be disciplined after he used the Premier?s official car to do his grocery shopping.

Mr. Scott said on Friday that the Bermuda Regiment soldier, described as a relief driver, had dropped him off at the Airport on December 11 and then stopped at the A1 supermarket in Smith?s Parish to do grocery shopping.

Mr. Scott was responding to a Letter to the Editor from last Monday?s .

He added that the driver of GP1 was being dealt with by the Bermuda Regiment Commanding Officer, who described the incident as an extreme case of poor judgment on the part of the driver.

Mr. Scott also defended a story in last Thursday?s Mid Ocean News that revealed he had sent a letter to all civil servants urging them to ?embrace? Government?s Social Agenda.

The Premier said the letter was meant to hold members of the civil service is high esteem and to thank them for a job well done and to encourage them to continue their good performance because there would be challenges ahead as the Government implemented its Social Agenda.
