Great Scots! Freemasons are on way to Bermuda

A high-ranking delegation of freemasons from the Supreme Grand Royal Arch of Scotland, some accompanied by their wives, will be arriving in Bermuda over the next few days for events connected with the installation of officers of the District Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Bermuda.

The installation ceremonies will be at the Masonic Temple, Khyber Pass, Warwick, on Wednesday, October 3. A formal banquet will follow at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, Paget.

Leading the group will be Most Excellent (ME) First Grand Charles Ian Robert Wolrige Gordon (pictured) of Esslemont. He will be making his first visit to Bermuda since succeeding Lord Elgin three years ago as the first Grand Principal. The latter was no stranger to Bermuda.

He will be accompanied by the Depute Past 1st Grand Principal, Tom Frost, the Grand Director of Ceremonies, Douglas Philand, and the Grand Scribe, Grahame Smith.

ME Companion Beldwin W.H. Smith is to be installed for a second five-year term as the Grand Superintendent of Bermuda. His other officers are the Depute Grand Superintendent ME David Addington, 2nd DGS, ME Calvin Crockwell, 3rd District Grand Principal ME Companion Lawrence Davis and District Grand Scribe ME Companion David Goodwin.

Four chapters make up the Bermuda District: the Atlantic Chapter, Celtic Chapter, St. Andrew Chapter and the Hamilton Royal Arch Chapter.
