Guest house gets Planning permission to expand
St. George?s Mayor E Micael Jones has received Planning permission to make internal renovations and additions to his guest house on Bridge Street.
Mr. Jones was initially denied permission to make the additions as the building, located east of the Town Hall, is listed as a historical building.
The decision was appealed, however, and Mr. Jones was given permission on November 30 to begin adding on the 15 guest suites he has proposed.
The additions to the building include a third storey to the eastern side.
Balconies will also be added to the northern and southern facades.
Originally, the Development Application Board stated that the additional storey would not ?create a precedent in the town of St. George?s?.
However, upon appeal to the Minister of the Environment, Neletha Butterfield, the mass scale and design of the building was found to be fitting for the site?s urban setting.
