Judith Hall-Bean has resigned as Director of Tourism <I>The Royal Gazette </I>has learned.The career civil servant became Bermuda's first female director in January 2002 but it was unclear whether she would stay in Government.One source told <I>The Royal Gazette</I> a memo had been circulated announcing her departure on Thursday but Mrs. Hall-Bean could not be reached for comment.

A former Director of Personnel Services, and secretary to the Bermuda Public Service Commission, Mrs. Hall-Bean has been a civil servant for nearly 40 years.
