Two visitors were attacked over the weekend by thieves who knocked them off their bikes and snatched their handbags.

Police were called to Valley Road in Paget on Saturday afternoon where a female visitor was riding her rental cycle north along the road. She said she decided to pull in to a driveway near the junction of Harbour Road to make a call on her cellular phone, placing the beach bag where she was carrying the phone on her lap while she made the call.

While using the phone she felt a hard bump on the rear of her cycle, causing her and the cycle to fall to the ground.

A man on a motorcycle rode past her, turning back as if to help ? but instead grabbed her bag and fled in a southerly direction along Valley Road. The woman shouted and a passing motorist gave chase, but the thief escaped.

The suspect was described as a light brown-skinned, black male riding a Suzuki step-through type cycle. He was five-foot seven-inches tall wearing a blue T-shirt, long pants and a black helmet. The bag contained $20 in cash and other personal items.

On Sunday evening, Police were called to another handbag snatching at Burchall?s Cove on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish.

There victims told Police they were travelling east on North Shore near the junction with Radnor Road when a man on a motorcycle snatched the handbag from their rental bike?s basket.

The couple gave chase but the thief escaped, knocking them from their cycle in the process. Their bag contained $200 in cash, a cellular phone and other personal items.

The suspect in this matter was described as a dark-skinned, black male, about 6-feet tall wearing dark sunglasses, a light coloured T-shirt with dark grey sleeves, riding a beige step-through type motorcycle with a red stripe on it.
