Heron Bay Primary School won the annual Christmas Tree Decoration Contest at the Airport yesterday with a tree adorned with miniature Bermuda kites and native flowers.

Ten primary schools were busily decorating trees over the past week in preparation for the competition.

The results of their labours are now on display in the departure hall of the Bermuda International Airport.

Gilbert Institute, Northlands Primary, Harrington Sound Primary, Somerset Primary, West End Primary, Victor Scott Primary, East End Primary, Heron Bay Primary, St. David?s Primary and Paget Primary all decorated their trees with the contest theme of ?Roots and Culture? in mind.

All schools received $150 toward decorations for their trees.

Heron Bay won three large pizzas from Four Star Pizza for their winning entry.

All participating schools received $30 gift certificates from the Phoenix Stores to be split between their team members.

St. David?s Primary also picked up a prize for best theme. The school took advantage of their unique Indian culture for inspiration.

Victor Scott won the most beautiful prize using in a Gombey theme for their tree while East End won most original tree with a Bermuda Onion theme.

Sponsors of the event were American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Kitson & Company, St. George?s Rotary, International Lines & Designs, Four Star Pizza and Phoenix Stores.
