The man poised to buy the closed Lantana resort is promising a level of luxury not seen in Bermuda before ? from arranging private jets for clients to in-room massages and personal butlers.

Don Burkett said his Spa ResortLantana will the first of a chain of between six and eight holistic centres around the world which will combine the best of service with state-of-the art wellness programmes.

Mr. Burkett said his intention is to make Lantana in Sandys one of the top five or ten spas in the world.

Speaking exclusively to yesterday, Mr. Burkett said that within the coming month he will unveil the name of the world class management team which will run the hotel, spa, conference and residential centre.

?The group caters to the rich and famous, and when I reveal their name, you will see they are right off the scale when it comes to service,? said Mr. Burkett.

?The spa will be unlike any other spa in the world. What we are creating at Lantana in Bermuda is a prototype, a flagship for another six or eight properties world-wide.

?It has involved everything from developing the organic interior design and creating the right environment to the management systems and the financial structure.?

He said that in tandem with world class service, the wellness treatments ? which will target stressed out executives as well as the super-rich ? will give them a ?transforming? experience.

Corporate highfliers can be wired up to machines measuring how their muscles are performing when they play games such as tennis and golf.

?Our strategy with the corporate guys is to run them through a programme where they learn wellness and high performance, then team-building and leadership training,? said Mr. Burkett.

?We want to empower our guests to look, and feel, and live, and perform at their very best ? learning to live more consciously, more balanced and more powerfully.?

As well standard spa treatments such as massages, aromatherapy baths and lap pools, there will be botanical baths, Japanese baths, Swiss showers, a eucalyptus steam room, and medical treatments such as botox therapy (a type of non-invasive cosmetic surgery).

There will be a full fitness centre and there will be other wellness courses such as yoga, Tai Chi and Qi Gong, a type of body movement.

On top of this, there will be a culinary arts studio where guests can take cooking lessons, and they can get gardening courses and painting tuition.

?This is the sort of stuff that really separates us from anything else on earth. Then there is the standard resort stuff like tennis and diving and watersports,? said Mr. Burkett.

?It is a brand new brand and type of resort we are developing at Lantana, with the Bermuda the flagship of properties we intend to open world-wide.

?It will be ultra-luxury but also transforming experiences for our guests. This will not be just a cool, high-end resort, it will be one of the coolest places ever.?

Mr. Burkett said he could not disclose his pricing policy yet, but it would be at ?the highest of the high end?.

His company, Burkett and Associates, is about to put pen to paper to buy the property from owner John Young in June.

The plan includes 40 hotel spa suites, six private cottages selling from between $1.3 million and $1.8 million, six yacht club villas and 17 beachfront villas which will be leased back for six months of the year, a conference centre and restaurant, a 25 slip marina and yacht club, plus a tennis and croquet club.
