Hotel comes to hospital?s rescue

Southampton Princess is doing the hospital? dirty washing after King Edward Memorial VII Hospital?s equipment broke down.

Bermuda Hospitals Board CEO Joan Dillas-Wright said the arrangement would carry on until the end of next month.

She said: ?On January 26 the laundry equipment at KEMH broke down completely and we were extremely grateful to the Fairmont Southampton Hotel which agreed to assist us in our dire need.

?The management there stepped into the breach, allowing our laundry to be serviced at the hotel. The hospital and hotel laundry staff have worked together over these months to ensure there was no interruption in service to our patients and to ensure that laundry supply requests are met. It has been an ad hoc partnership that has worked well and will continue until April 30.

?During the interim, much needed improvements have been carried out within the hospital laundry including the purchase of new equipment.?
