Residents are apparently planning a demonstration to express their frustrations of high rent and living costs.

An e-mail is being circulated around the Island by The Concerned, asking people to drive at all times with their lights on this week, and to beep their horns for three seconds as they pass Parliament.

The message, with the subject title For Bermuda, Pass it On, alleges that the cost of housing in Bermuda is becoming "outrageous".

It reads: "As the price of houses increase in value, so do rents. Wages therefore have to reflect this and so wages go up. Because wages go up, so does the price of goods, services and duty etc.

"Before you know it, we have a vicious circle of crazy pricing. Sadly, a lot of people can't afford to live within the circle and this generates a huge disparity between the haves and have nots."

The e-mail said it was not uncommon to see people working two or three jobs, just to survive.

It said, as a result, parents became detached from their children and family problems quickly turned into social and community problems.

"It is time to let the Government, the Progressive Labour Party, and the United Bermuda Party know that we will no longer accept this ludicrous situation," it continued.

It asked people to print off the message and post it on noticeboards at work, and suggested people send it to their friends and acquaintances.

It concluded: "There are answers to this problem."
