?Hurting? widow demands answers

A heartbroken widow said her pain will not ease until she gets more answers about her husband?s death.

The Bermuda Police Service said Louis Robert Barry, 48, of Joppa, Maryland died of natural causes at the Wyndham Resort in Southampton on August 25.

However, since the day after her husband died, Deborah Barry has not heard anything from Bermuda about her husband?s death.

?I?m hurting and I will keep hurting until I get some answers ... until I really know,? Mrs. Barry said yesterday from Maryland.

On Monday, Jill Esposito of the American Consulate said it was against the Privacy Act for her to speak to the Press about the cause of Mr. Barry?s death.

?When an American dies abroad with no next of kin the Consul extended its services to Mrs. Barry,? Ms Esposito said on mondya.

However, by yesterday the Consul had still had not been in contact with Mrs. Barry concerning the cause of her husband?s death.

Police ruled out foul play after an autopsy and said yesterday no criminal investigations were being carried surrounding the death. Mrs. Barry said her husband?s body was flown back to Maryland on Tuesday.

?I have his body but I don?t know what happened,? she said. ?I don?t want publicity for your little Island.?

She said she will soon make a day trip to Bermuda to see where her husband of eight years passed away.

?I understand you want to be very thorough. But enough is enough, guys. Its just very, very frustrating. People keep coming up to me asking what happened, but I do not know. You can?t put in words how it made me feel.?

She was informed of her husband?s death by a switchboard operator at the hotel.

?I was sitting in a parking lot when I found out,? Mrs. Barry said. ?I got a co-worker to phone for me. The operator asked my co-worker if his wife was there. She said ?Yes, his wife is here?. I knew he had died then.?

She said her husband was healthy before he came to Bermuda. ?He had a physical three weeks ago and everything was fine, even his blood pressure,? she said.
