The husband of the day care owner who this week pleaded guilty to seriously injuring a ten month old child has spoken about his own family's pain.

Clinton Fubler, whose wife Jacquelyn is currently in custody awaiting sentence to the crime, said the couple's two young children are also suffering, not knowing when their mother will come home.

Fubler was remanded in custody on Wednesday after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Stephen Ebbin when she ran the Noah's Ark Day Care Centre in July 2001. She could face up to ten years in jail for the crime.

Mr. Fubler visited The Royal Gazette office yesterday visibly upset about the news coverage of his wife's trial. He was too upset to talk, but said he wanted the public to know that Stephen was not the only child still suffering from the incident.

Mr.Fubler declined an interview, but spoke at length about the love his family has for their two children, his seven-year-old daughter and his four-year-old son.

"My four year old asks every day when his mother's coming home," said Mr. Fubler.

"This week we sat them down and told them what would happen, my seven year old understood but the four year old really doesn't understand what's going on," said Mr. Fubler. "They love and cherish their mother dearly."

The children have not seen their mother since she was remanded. and will have the chance to visit her for the first time today.

Mr. Fubler said that friends and family called his house yesterday morning to offer their prayers and support.

In a written statement given to The Royal Gazette he said:"As you know my wife is now gone. I have nothing else to care for except for my two small kids who are four and seven.

"If Stephen's family want to sensationalise this story then bless them, they have to remember there are other children caught up in this.

"Like Stephen they are suffering and have done nothing, but are suffering just the same. I hope and pray Stephen fully recovers and I wish his family well. I would love to say more but my time right now is focused on caring for my small kids."

Extended family members are helping Mr. Fubler to care for the two children.
