Impaired rider taken off the road

A motorcyclist who drove while impaired was fined and banned from the road yesterday.Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney told Magistrates? Court that Police stopped Jeffrey Mathon on Middle Road, Smiths, at 2.58 a.m. on June 9.He said the defendant was approaching the yellow centre line on the road and was experiencing difficulty maintaining his balance.

A motorcyclist who drove while impaired was fined and banned from the road yesterday.

Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney told Magistrates? Court that Police stopped Jeffrey Mathon on Middle Road, Smiths, at 2.58 a.m. on June 9.

He said the defendant was approaching the yellow centre line on the road and was experiencing difficulty maintaining his balance.

He collided with the left sidewalk at he attempted to stop.

Mathon?s eyes were bloodshot, said Mr. Mahoney, his breath smelled of intoxicants, and he was unsteady on his feet. He admitted he had ?had a few drinks?.

The defendant told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner: ?I would like to apologise for making a very bad decision and taking up time in your court.?

Mr. Warner fined him $1,000 and banned him from driving for a year.
