A couple walking on the beach had their idyllic afternoon shattered when a man stole $110 in cash from their bag.

The couple went for a walk on Jobson's Cove in Warwick sometime between 4 and 4.15 p.m. on Wednesday, leaving a bag on the beach. When they returned, they noticed that a man who had been sitting on the rocks nearby was leaving the area. The cash was gone when they checked the bag.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, six feet tall, slim build, wearing a white T-shirt and purple jogging pants. He is believed to be in his late 40s or early 50s, with greying curly hair and a "scruffy" appearance.

?A burglar broke into Arabian Chicken on Court Street overnight on Tuesday and stole $110. Police are also investigating a burglary at a Pearman Hill Road, Hamilton parish home after a 27-inch TV, DVD player, tools and $250 cash were stolen on Tuesday.

Inquiries into the above incident are underway.

New gas station in the pipeline

A new gas station will be popping up in Southampton to replace the Raynor Shell Service Station.

In December the Government Development Applications Board approved plans to demolish the current station on Middle Road, allowing a new one to be erected on the same spot.

A representative of the gas station, said that the demolition is set to begin in March.
