The sentencing of a self-confessed prowler was adjourned in Magistrates' Court on Friday in order for a psychological report on the sex pest to be completed.

The 51-year-old Southampton man, who admitted prowling around a woman's house and masturbating in public earlier this month, was remanded in custody until October 22 when the report is expected to be completed.

The man, who can not be named for legal reasons, has denied three other charges including - committing a sexual assault, breaking and entering a woman's house and committing a sexual assault, and intruding upon the privacy of a woman in such a manner as to be likely to alarm, insult, or offend her.

A mention date to deal with the three not guilty pleas was also set for October 22.

The alleged incidents happened on October 8, 2000 and January 13, 2001.

Crewmen recovering

Three of the seven men who were injured in last week's Empress of the Seas lifeboat crash were last night listed as being in "satisfactory condition on a general ward" of the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The three suffered injuries which included separated, dislocated and fractured shoulders and lacerations to the head.

Another 33 year-old-man was airlifted to a hospital near Boston, Massachusetts for medical treatment, after he injured his spine when the lifeboat he and six other crewmen attempted to lower during an exercise, fell 60 feet into the water off the Royal Naval Dockyard.

Three other crew members were released from hospital last week.

Laying the foundation

Saltus Cavendish School is seeking planning approval to renovate the existing administration building in preparation for its 2006 Foundation year programme.

According to a planning application, the school has plans to revise the staff parking lot and add a second storey to the garage and enclose a terrace walkway.

Principal Nigel Kermode said work would begin as soon as planning approval was granted.

About 80 students are expected to begin the new Foundation Year under the supervision of four teachers and four teaching assistants.

The students will be split into four groups in different areas of the school. The administration building will accommodate the students in two classrooms with a bathroom facility facing the Watlington Road entrance.

Camera snapped up

A thief who broke into a Sandys residence on Thursday evening got away with a Canon digital camera and other personal items.

At around 6.20 p.m. on Thursday Police Police went to the home on West Side Road to investigate. The complainant said that some time between 8.45 a.m. and 5.45 p.m. that day an unknown culprit gained entry into her home.

In addition to the camera and case the thief stole a silver watch and some coins. Inquiries are underway.
