The three men injured in yesterday?s soccer violence were last night in stable condition at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

One of the three men was operated on for the injuries he received at Wellington Oval, a hospital spokeswoman said.

And the hospital was closed to visitors from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. due to Police safety concerns.

Police spokesman Robin Simmons told yesterday that the young man, who was in critical condition, went into surgery for riot-related injuries around 7.30 p.m.

Two other young men were rushed to the hospital for injuries believed to be serious, but not life-threatening.

Yesterday evening, hospital spokeswoman Elizabeth Tee said the three patients admitted in conjunction with this incident were in stable condition.

Yesterday, at the Emergency Room at KEMH, family members and friends of the three men injured in the incident lingered outside of the Emergency Room for news of their condition.

Several women were crying quietly while others talked on cellular phones, their arms around one another for support.

was on the scene when the three young men with the injuries were rushed to the Emergency Room at 3.30 p.m. One young man, a brace around his mid section, staggered out of the ambulance in pain. Two others arrived close to 4 p.m. on stretchers, one breathing with the assistance of an oxygen mask.

There was a heavy Police presence at the hospital with more than a dozen officers outside the main entrance to the ER on Berry Hill Road and several police officers monitoring traffic flow into and out of the hospital on the Point Finger Road entrance.
