Island gets a clean bill of health

There have been no reports of anyone falling ill from drinking contaminated water or eating food that has gone off since Hurricane Fabian, Government said yesterday.

Government has advised householders that if they are in doubt about food that may have gone off or partially defrosted that they should throw it out.

Residents have been urged to boil water if they intend to drink it or stock up on bottled water.

But, according to Government yesterday, Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Cann has not received any reports of illness or sickness related to Fabian.

Dr. Cann said it would be "premature" to tell as there has been no thorough compilation, but there had been no spike in reports, indicating there was no undue cause for alarm, said Information Services.

The Department of Health will be doing a comprehensive survey next week to see if there have been any increases in water and food poisoning since Fabian.
