Thirty-six entertainers strutted their stuff on Sunday during an Entertainment Showcase at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel.

The aim of the showcase was to introduce local talent to hoteliers and restaurateurs - to show that there was a significant amount of local entertainment to choose from.

Although some insiders said the show did not attract as many members of the public as hoped, the show was bigger than at first expected.

It was initially planned to include 29 entertainers ranging from musicians to magicians, but in the end, 36 acts took part.

Minister of Tourism and Telecommunications Ren?e Webb said it was an excellent event, which ran from 1 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.. She said she stayed throughout the whole day as it was "too good to leave".

"Hoteliers and industry partners were in attendance, and I was very pleased with the outcome," she said.

"We are looking for the performers to be booked and we plan to make the event annual so that they have the opportunity for employment."

Ms Webb said it was obvious to her that the Island had a wealth of talented entertainers.

She added: "Bermuda has a lot of talented people and their skills ranged from musicians, singers, tap dancers, rappers, poetry, classical and folk musicians. They left no stone unturned.

"Half of those people we would never have seen, if it hadn't been for the showcase."

The entire event was filmed and DVDs will be available in the near future, should businesses wish to have them to refer to.

Fifteen bands performed, which included the Randy Lambert Tempo Band, Pulse, and Legacy.

Paul Gibbons was on guitar and vocals, while Samba Drums of Destiny were also among the performers, and young saxophonist and pianist Aaron Daniels also helped to keep the atmosphere going.
