The word on the street is that today's election is going to be a tight one, although a majority of the people who spoke with The Royal Gazette said the Progressive Labour Party has a good chance of keeping the opposition out of power.

Many of those who said they would vote for the PLP said they had been happy with the job the party had done so far.

"I think the PLP has to make some changes but they still need to be given a chance," said Leroy Smith. "I will vote PLP."

Loren Thomas said: "I think the PLP have a good chance, I'll vote for the PLP."

Although, many people felt their voting preference was private, everyone had an opinion about which party they thought would win.

"The PLP will win again tomorrow. I think it's a very personal question to ask someone who they will vote for though," Carol Smith said.

"But the United Bermuda Party has put up a good fight. They just haven't got enough people to support them."

Gladstone Simons reiterated Ms Smith's comments and said the PLP will win again and that he would be voting PLP.

Others, like Peter Roser, are not voting because they just do not like politicians.

He said he would not vote because politicians could not be trusted.

"I think the UBP will win tomorrow, though," he added.

Taxi driver, David Corday said: "Three quarters, at least, of the taxi drivers will vote UBP. Personally, I think it will be close."

Many people said it would be a very tight race between the two parties. Kyle Smith said: "I can't be sure who will win but I know it will be a tight race."

And Chanel DeShield said it would be "a tough call".

For most of the younger voters, it seems most do not have aspirations of voting and most said they did not care about who would be the next governing party.

"If I was going to vote I would vote UBP," said Jenia Thompson. Ms Thompson, like most of the young people The Royal Gazette spoke to, had not registered to vote.

Her friend, Mike Smith said: "I don't care about who wins because I probably won't be here for the next four years.

"But the PLP is probably going to win.

Another young woman, Samantha Smith, said she was not intending to live in Bermuda so did not care to vote but added: "I might vote but I think the PLP will win. I'm just hoping they won't."

Sean Simmons also thinks the PLP will win again but said he was only voting because his mother told him too.

"I'm thinking on my own terms but my mom told me to vote and she tries to tell me who to vote for," Mr. Simmons said.

Patrice Hill said: "Whoever wins should deliver for the people, regardless."
