An 18-year-old's joyride on a stolen Jet Ski landed him in court this week.

Magistrates' Court heard that Stacey Simpson of Laffan Street in Pembroke was arrested on August 3 after a sea and land chase by Police.

Crown counsel Shade Subair told the court that on August 3 Police received reports of a Jet Ski being driven dangerously near Shelly Bay and that the machine had been stolen a few days earlier.

Marine Police chased Simpson, who sped off towards the beach. He also tried to escape by foot hiding among campers and bushes at the Shelly Bay Park.

Police finally apprehended Simpson and he pleaded guilty to obstructing Police, driving a vehicle in a dangerous manner and knowingly driving the stolen Jet Ski.

Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves remanded Simpson to custody for sentencing.
