Thanks to $20,000 from an anonymous donor on Thursday night, the Bermuda Red Cross has raised $85,799.61 in the last three weeks towards Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts.

And the West Africa Crisis Appeal has raised $48,532.50.

Director Ann Spencer-Arscott said the Red Cross is continuing to accept donations for both relief efforts and was delighted with the public?s response.

Besides the ?milk cartons? which have been placed in stores and restaurants Island-wide for victims of Hurricane Katrina, members of the public can also donate funds directly into the following accounts ? stipulating which appeal they are donating towards: Bank of Bermuda account: 701-19842; Bank of Butterfield: 20-006-060-663859-200; Capital G Bank: 35760

Donations to either appeals can also be mailed directly to the Bermuda Red Cross, Charleswood, 9 Berry Hill Road, Paget, DV 03 or can be made over the telephone (236-8253) by debit or credit card.
